Topic

Remember that I have asked that you have a topic chosen by November 1.  I understand that this topic may still be fluid, that is that you have a broad topic chosen but it will get more specific as your research leads you in certain directions.  Regardless of your topic, please keep the theme of Revolution, Reaction and Reform in the back of your mind.  At least part of the this theme should guide you through your research.

Please post a one paragraph reply to this post explaining to the group what you believe your project topic is at this time - some will change.  Explain how you think it relates to the theme.

  1. For my topic I believe I am collaborating with Andrew Nelson in the study of the number 0.
0 is a number of many mysteries and changed math in a sense that 0 could be everything and nothing at the same time, but we accept it today as nothing. Our second idea on a topic would be pi as it is found a lot in nature and is also enigmatic. Wether or not we are going to do this project together will be decided today (10/25/11) during guided study.

  2. My project for National History Day will be over how the automatic transmission revolutionized the automotive industry. Before the automatic transmission, people would have to learn how to drive a stick shift. Learning this was not an easy task. The automatic transmission came out around the 1940's and first showed up in the Oldsmobile.

  3. hello everybody, i am tommy casart. my topic is the indian revolution against britian. i think this incorporates revolution and reaction because the people revolutioned for india's freedom from the britians and britain didn't like it. it also changed asian economy in india because before the britains companies made most of the money.

  4. Tommy, May I recommend another potential topic - the revolutionary use of capitalization as it applies to the writing of proper nouns.

  5. Tommy, is using the word revolution as a verb considered a 'reform'?

  6. Hey everyone, it's Michelle!! My NHD topic is the rabies vaccine. It relates to the topic of revolution and reform because without the rabies vaccine, we would have many more infected and dying people all over the world. Since mammals have no natural immunity to the rabies virus, the vaccine is all we have to rely on.

Ali And I Have Chose The Revoulution Safety Throughout The Years. It Fits Into The Theme Because Many NASCAR, IndyCup, Ect. Racers Around The World Would Be Dead, But Because Of The Safety Reforms It Saved Lives.

  8. Jacob Mikkelson here, and my topic for the NHD project is the German part of the Protestant Reformation. I think this topic is related to the overall topic because the Protestant Reformation is when certain people wanted the Roman Catholic Church to change what they were doing, but the Catholic Church didn't, so the people broke away and started their own way or ways of thinking about religion. One of the main Protestant Reformers in Germany is Martin Luther. A majority of the Christian church denomionations are protestant churches.

  9. Mr.Myers, I have seen many examples of the project topics. The website project is alittle unclear to me.If I were to create a blog with posts, pictures, videos, etc. would that be considered or do I have to create one like the examples?

  10. Mr.Meyers,
our topic can fall in any of the three parts of the theme, any two parts, or all three...correct?

  11. Yes. Your project may meet one of the three terms or all three.

  12. Mr. Myers,
I found a video with multiple interviews from multiple people. Does each interview count as a primary resource, or is all of the video?

  13. Dom, There are several factors that I would need to know to make the determination. We can do this on Monday. Is the interview itself actually primary? Where the interviews completed as part of one project or is a post interview compilation? How are the interviews categorized by its original author? We can look at this this week and if there are still questions we can inquire with NHD.
